May 3th 2022 Ecological Health: Humans, Plants and Envrironment

UNESCO Chair Salerno – Plants for Health in the Mediterranean Traditions –and the Degree in Agricultural Sciences – organize the workshop Ecological Health: Humans, Plants and Envrironment May 3th 2022 Room Agraria –Department of Pharmacy- Campus of Fisciano. Coming from multipledisciplines, including plant inteligence studies, indigenous knowledge, ethnopharmacy and anthropology, outstanding researchers will present and discuss their findings on how human health is produced through its relations to the ecosystem. The conference aims at bringing together different experiences in the shared commitment of healing the human-environment relation complying with UNESCO principles as “UNESCO’s commitment to biodiversity: connecting people and nature for an inspiring future” This is consistent with the mandate for the UNESCO chair which is to implement a research-informed, and inclusive ecological education framework for education.  In doing so, the Chair develops diverse and varied proposals for research and teaching in the fields of Environmental and Sustainability Education and spread Bio-Cultural diversity, made up not only of the diversity of species, habitats and ecosystems, but also of a diversity of human cultures and languages.

Researcher in Pharmaceutical Biology, Traditional Medicines, D’Annunzio University of Chieti
Alessandro Chiolerio PhD and post-doctoral activity at the Politecnico of Torin.  Currently at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, Center for Converging Technologies, Bioinspired Soft Robotics, (CCT-BSR-IT Genua). Visiting researcher at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory of NASA (2015, 2016) and at the Max Planck Institute for Microstructure Physics (2017). Recently he was granted as coordinator by the EU research project COgITOR aiming at developing a liquid state cybernetic system prototype. Holonomic memory and computing, pressure sensing, and energy harvesting from thermal gradients will be achieved using colloids and the prototype will be tested in extreme environments.

Tania Re Clinical and Community Psychologist specialized in Gestalt Psychotherapy at the CSTG in Milan and complementary therapies in Switzerland. Expert in Health Anthropology and Ethnomedicine through transdisciplinary approaches, mainly in South America indigenous traditional medicines, plants and healing rituals. Co-founder of UNESCO CHAIRS – Genua Health Anthropology – and – Salerno Plants for Health in the Mediterranean Traditions -.
